Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Opportunity School – 2019

Opportunity School has completed 50 years of devoted service to children with intellectual disabilities.

The Golden Jubilee Inaugural Service was organized to thank God for His greatness and faithfulness towards our institution. The occasion was graced by our board members, Mrs. Kala Swamikan (Former Headmistress), donors, well-wishers, and alumni of Opportunity School.

In November 2018, as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, Inter-School Competitions for special children from Chennai schools were organized. Mr. Joseph Ravi, District Disabled Welfare Officer, was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. A total of 133 students from six schools, along with our own students, participated and enjoyed the programme.

That same month, an Awareness Programme on Child Sexual Abuse was conducted by the organization Justice and Hope. The session was attended by 21 staff members and 60 parents, creating valuable awareness and dialogue on child safety.

Marking this milestone of 50 years of existence, Opportunity School introduced new uniforms for students and issued ID cards to staff and children, symbolizing a renewed identity and unity for the institution.
